Mike “FatMan” Jackson Sportsman of the Year Mike Jackson Sr. raced in Tulsa, Mokan, and Ark City for over 30 years. According to his many friends and acquaintances he always had a smile on his face and was ready to help any one willing to take the help. Back in the day he was our area Mr. Mopar, he drove a Mopar and worked on them as well. He spent many hours mentoring to other fine racers among them were his son Mike Jackson, Jr and our own Wade Metzinger. He cultivated many friendships that still bring tears to their eyes knowing he has gone to be with Jesus. One of these friends is Jim Pierce who suggested we honor his friend in a way he would always be remembered, so to honor Mike Jackson Sr and his family we have created the “Mike ’Fat Man’ Jackson Sportsman of the Year Award. We looked for some of Mike Sr’s qualities in our candidate. A smile that was always present, always willing to help with anything racing, car show, grunt work for the series, just anything to further the series. One candidate stood out. The smile is always present, even talked to another race track about our series and recruited the track for 2008, spends many hours working on Mopars at home and if someone needs the help, this candidate even took up racing again this year so we would have more in the series. This candidate’s excitement for the series was only surpassed by Sharie. We are fortunate to have this friend as our friend. So, the last award but certainly not the least the Mike ’Fat Man’ Jackson Sportsman of the Year Award for 2007 goes to : Ken Metzinger
